Start in Style - Cocktails at The Savoy

Hitting 24 last weekend, I decided I am now a grown up and can start enjoying the finer things in life openly without being portrayed as some spoilt little child who demands layered colours bubble bath because it looks like a cocktail at the age of 8 or insists on the more expensive school shoes because they are a nicer shade of black. I persuaded my bemused boyfriend that no where would do but The Savoy for cocktails after an already extravagant day (high maintenance?  surely not) I dressed to the nines in a black lace beaded dress from my new collection and black Louboutins, complete with trench coat and fur stole to keep out the bitter wind. I was in awe of the architectural grandeur of the place, arriving at 11pm on a saturday night, we were asked to wait for a table, which was not an inconvenience as it gave us a chance to wonder through the grand halls and take in every pillar,  chandelier and flower arrangement.
Once in the Beaufort bar, we ordered a cocktail each and were serenaded by the piano and sweet lyrics of the songstress. It was perfection, though I have to say I questioned my cocktail choice - orange peel is not to my taste - a school girl error- however once extracted, it was delightful!

We had:

Enlace

A celebration of Cuban style rum and Champagne meeting.
Bacardi 8yr, Crème de Cacao, Orange Bitters,

Regents Punch

Henry Porter, Cups and their Customs, 1863
Remy Martin VSOP Mature Cognac, Bacardi 8yr Rum, Citrus, Green Tea, Spices, Curacao, Sherry After standing for half an hour, strain the mixture, ice the compound well.

We sat on an elegant settee in a gold alcove, the mood was sexy and romantic with candlelit soft lighting and glowing gold alcoves against deep black marble pillars and decadent gold edged cornice's, with £38,000 spent on gold leaf detailing, My appetite for gold was satisfied.
