Cocktails in Tea Cups

Last week was a very busy week! On thursday I had my birthday party consisting of an all pink themed 'tea' party... of course, this is me, no tea was drunk...instead we had Strawberry Cosmopolitans and Finish in the pink cocktails.

To eat I slaved away all day creating a tea like array of finger foods and nibbles including:

  • King prawns and fried Halloumi skewers
  • Caramelised balsamic onion vol au vent's
  • Avocado and prawn sushi
  • Smoked Salmon finger sandwiches
  • Bacon wrapped Halloumi
Plus loads more including a selection of cakes and sweets.

On Saturday we hosted a Ladies of Luxury evening for my clothing company Henry Hunt, it was a huge success and featured a lot more food and a lot more drink!! Including prosecco with strawberries in on arrival, an array of cocktails including my favourite Bramble Cosmo, Finish in the Pink again and several Champagne cocktails. We spent all day cooking and baking cupcakes and various other delights with excessive use of gold edible glitter, chocolate drizzle and little H chocolate shapes (all painstakingly made one by one in a mould)
The turn out was great and everyone seemed to love the new collections we had on show. I wore a gold sequin number from the summer collection (below) my models Alex and Sarah also wore gowns from the new collections which both looked stunning on them.

The new Spring Summer collection will be up on our brand new website very soon, so stay posted!

Cocktail Party

Saturday night just gone, my sister and fiancé held a small cocktail party for a few friends.
I played cocktail tender for the first few sophisticated drinks...the reins were then taken over by the boys who started to mix some lethal concoctions of their own, involving every liquor in sight.

I started with a bramble cosmopolitan, before moving on to a strawberry version. (see recipe here)

Both were delicious and were complimented accordingly. I have since tried a blueberry version, again delightful, proving that a cosmopolitan can lend to any flavour of your preference --Maybe tonight I will try a banana one?

My Louboutins had their first outing and avoided being ruined...turquoise suede is a slightly risky choice when 'walking' back through the garden in the dark, thankfully they survived.

I am now making arrangements for my birthday party this week and a Ladies of Luxury evening on Saturday. My tea set will be in it's prime and I am sure a lot of cocktail testing and approving will be needed before then, along with canapé tasting and cupcake decorating.

Charming China

When I said I wanted to start collecting vintage china... I was not joking! In fact, since declaring this just under a week ago, I am now over run with parcels arriving every day, its like Christmas!...to say I got a bit carried away is an understatement and no longer such a joke when saying I could cater my sisters wedding of 200 with a full set of crockery.

I feel this may be a reoccurring post in this new blog of mine, with updates of my new additions but heres a few I have received so far...I have plenty more coming!!

of course, it's pink and gold...

Lucky Louboutin's

For my birthday I was very spoilt...I was lucky enough to get a pair of Louboutin's from my lovely boyfriend, Not just any pair, only the pair I had been dying for for about 2 years.

The Ron Ron 100 Vous Velours in Caraibes

Such beautiful shoes in such a stunning colour.

Ordering them off the website, sadly they did not have my size, so I thought the size up would do...it didnt, so I proceeded to ring around all of the boutiques in Europe practically to find the pair I wanted. Luckily I found ONE PAIR left in the Paris boutique, Boutique Grenelle. A dodgy payment was made over email and I was left for a week wondering if the broken french had been understood and whether I had paid the right person!

Yesterday however, after several weeks of painstaking anxiety, I received them and they were perfect.
I can not WAIT to wear them to their first cocktail party this saturday. They deserve it, they have traveled a long way.

Now to start saving for the Strass...

Start in Style - Cocktails at The Savoy

Hitting 24 last weekend, I decided I am now a grown up and can start enjoying the finer things in life openly without being portrayed as some spoilt little child who demands layered colours bubble bath because it looks like a cocktail at the age of 8 or insists on the more expensive school shoes because they are a nicer shade of black. I persuaded my bemused boyfriend that no where would do but The Savoy for cocktails after an already extravagant day (high maintenance?  surely not) I dressed to the nines in a black lace beaded dress from my new collection and black Louboutins, complete with trench coat and fur stole to keep out the bitter wind. I was in awe of the architectural grandeur of the place, arriving at 11pm on a saturday night, we were asked to wait for a table, which was not an inconvenience as it gave us a chance to wonder through the grand halls and take in every pillar,  chandelier and flower arrangement.
Once in the Beaufort bar, we ordered a cocktail each and were serenaded by the piano and sweet lyrics of the songstress. It was perfection, though I have to say I questioned my cocktail choice - orange peel is not to my taste - a school girl error- however once extracted, it was delightful!

We had:

Enlace

A celebration of Cuban style rum and Champagne meeting.
Bacardi 8yr, Crème de Cacao, Orange Bitters,

Regents Punch

Henry Porter, Cups and their Customs, 1863
Remy Martin VSOP Mature Cognac, Bacardi 8yr Rum, Citrus, Green Tea, Spices, Curacao, Sherry After standing for half an hour, strain the mixture, ice the compound well.

We sat on an elegant settee in a gold alcove, the mood was sexy and romantic with candlelit soft lighting and glowing gold alcoves against deep black marble pillars and decadent gold edged cornice's, with £38,000 spent on gold leaf detailing, My appetite for gold was satisfied.
